Nha Trang Heritage Exhibition Runs Through 31 August
A new heritage exhibition at Khanh Hoa Museum gives visitors in Nha Trang an indoor-and-outdoor cultural option through 31 August 2026. The exhibition opened on 15 July at the museum's first branch, 16 Tran Phu Street, Nha Trang Ward. Its longer run lets travellers avoid the Sea Festival's busiest weekend.
The full Vietnamese title connects Van Mieu-Quoc Tu Giam in Hanoi with Van Mieu Dien Khanh in Khanh Hoa. The project also marks 950 years since the founding of Quoc Tu Giam in 1076. Often described as Vietnam's first national academy, the historic institution represents the country's traditions of learning, respect for teachers and public recognition of scholarship. The Nha Trang display introduces that story through selected photographs, documents, objects and interpretive material.
The main exhibition has three sections. The first presents an overview of the special national heritage site Van Mieu-Quoc Tu Giam. The second focuses on Quoc Tu Giam as Vietnam's earliest national school. The third explains how the site is interpreted and its values are shared with the public today. Part of the material is displayed outdoors, so midday sun or a short shower may affect the most comfortable time to visit.
Hands-on elements make the programme more than a conventional photo exhibition. Visitors can explore a recreation of an old classroom through a mobile-device application, practise writing historical Chinese characters, try woodblock printing based on inscriptions from the Doctoral Stelae, learn about books once used by scholars and see how traditional do paper is bound into a book. The availability and timing of guided demonstrations may vary, so ask museum staff what is running when you arrive.
The visit also introduces cultural heritage from Khanh Hoa. Supporting displays cover Cham culture in the province, the role of the sea in the lives of ancient coastal communities, Dong Son bronze drums found in Khanh Hoa, and local maritime and island identity. Further activities include art photography, presentations on the knowledge used to harvest and process Khanh Hoa agarwood, Bau Truc pottery and Cham brocade weaving. Some crafts may be demonstrated live rather than shown continuously.
Allow roughly one to two hours if you want to read the displays and try an activity without rushing. The museum address is on central Tran Phu Street, making the exhibition easy to combine with the Nha Trang waterfront and other nearby cultural stops. Walking or using a metered taxi or app-based car is usually simpler than looking for parking during major Sea Festival events. Check current traffic instructions before setting out because temporary controls may affect central streets.
Opening hours, admission arrangements and demonstration schedules can change, and the launch announcements do not provide one universal daily timetable for every activity.
